Every year on 18 July, South Africans — and people around the world — pause for 67 minutes to do something good. Something that matters. Something that reflects the life and values of Nelson Mandela.
At Transglobal Cargo, we don’t see this day as just another date on the calendar. We see it as a call — to show kindness, to give hope, and to be of service to someone who needs it most.
This year, we answered that call by turning our time and effort into a small but powerful gift: 67 care kits, prepared with love and donated to each of two local hospitals, for single mothers giving birth without financial support.
A Small Act, A Deep Meaning
Behind every kit was a deeper thought: what would a mother need if she had nothing else? What would bring her comfort? What would remind her she’s not alone?
Each care kit included:
- Newborn clothing
- Maternity hygiene products
- Sanitary items
- Basic baby care necessities
- A heartfelt message of encouragement
To many, these may seem like simple items. But to a mother in a hospital bed without support — they offer warmth, dignity, and peace of mind during one of the most emotional moments of her life.
Why We Chose to Uplift Single Mothers?
At Transglobal, we handle high-value, dangerous, and sensitive cargo every day. We know the meaning of responsibility. But this Mandela Day, we wanted to carry a different kind of responsibility — the responsibility to uplift, not just deliver.
We chose to support single mothers because their courage often goes unseen. These women bring life into the world, often with very little support — emotionally or financially. Their stories are rarely told. But their strength? It’s immeasurable.
By giving these kits, we wanted to say:
“We see you. We respect you. And you are not forgotten.”
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” – Nelson Mandela
A Team Effort from the Heart
This was not just a company initiative. It was a team story.
From packing each item with care to hand-delivering them to the hospitals, every step was filled with purpose. Our staff came together, not because they had to — but because they wanted to. It was a moment where logistics took a back seat and humanity came forward.
Some of us met young mothers still in recovery. Others heard stories that left us speechless. A few mothers had no visitors. No gifts. No supplies. Just our kits — and the message that someone, somewhere, cared.
These moments reminded us that 67 minutes can last a lifetime in someone else’s memory.
More Than Mere Business
Mandela Day teaches us that even the smallest gesture — if done with love — can make a big difference. It reminded us that while we spend most of our days moving goods across borders, there’s no greater movement than kindness.
Our commitment doesn’t end with this one event. As a proudly South African company, we believe in uplifting our people — in ports, in hospitals, in every corner of the communities we touch.
Because at Transglobal, we’re not just freight forwarders.
We’re people. We’re neighbours. And on days like Mandela Day — we’re a family choosing to stand for something greater.
Looking Ahead
We return to our work with a little more gratitude and a stronger sense of purpose. Mandela Day 2025 reminded us of something very simple:
Real impact starts with showing up. And caring.
We thank everyone who made this possible — from our incredible team to the nurses and hospital staff who welcomed us with open arms.
As we look ahead, we carry Mandela’s legacy in more than our words.
We carry it in our actions — every day, with every delivery, and with every choice to do better.
